CAMPING

As any true camper knows, camping is a fantastic way to experience a country and culture. Camping has become increasingly popular in the Faroe Islands in recent years, also among locals.

Because there are no public wildernesses or common areas in the Faroes, camping is only permitted at designated campsites. Furthermore, it is not permitted to spend nights in camping cars along roads, at rest stops, laybys, or viewpoints.

Please have ‘virðing’ for camping regulations in the Faroe Islands. You will see signs like the one above at various campsites across the islands.

Please note that some villages with narrow roads do not allow access to camping cars. These villages include Tjørnuvík and Múli. Please stay informed about driving restrictions before travelling to villages.

GUIDELINES FOR CAMPING

› When camping, remember to take your rubbish with you at all times.

"We traveled around Faroe Islands with our van. That was an amazing adventure, the roads are just perfect ups and downs and the camping places are really cozy and well located."

Because of the unpredictable nature of the Faroese weather, it is advisable to have sturdy, waterproof, and windproof equipment.
